The 2003 V Twin rally was another outstanding effort by the Moto guzzi club GB, snd agian this event was the standard setter for the rest of us. A rally review would be basically the same as last years, so i will leave it at that, just to add, this year we had , Childrens entertainment (due to the amount of Outfits with families I guess) I think around 15 real ale's

The 2002 V Twin rally was the 26th, as ever held in shaftsbury and ran by the Moto Guzzi club. If ever an event should be held up as an example of the kind of event the national one make clubs should be putting on then this is it. WE Without doubt the v Twin rally is the best rally we have ever attended in the UK- Friendly marshalls, Excellent bar, a smiling welcome wherever you go in the town thanks to the great relationship between the Local townspeople and the Moto Guzzi club, and most important of all a cracking atmosphere generated by the sell out attendance at the event. Apparently this years rally may well be the last on the site due to developers wanting to build a Sainsburys, However we can only hope the Moto Guzzi club manage to find another site so close to the town center. Thursday and Friday owners of V twins from all over Europe gather in Shftsbury, by Friday afternoon most of the best camping spots had been taken and I saw a group of Ducati owners, laden with luggage being turned away- the event was now SOLD OUT!!!
Friday night saw our first session of binge drinking which saw Barbara (in the picture above on her Spondon) making good advantage of the plentiful supply of Stella to the extant that she denied everything the next day as she could not remember (luckily the other DOC(GB) members present were able to remind her!
 | On Saturday the whole site was woken by a town crier- at 8.30am Something of a rally tradition by all accounts. Some of us thought we might introduce a new rally game involving inserting bells???
By Midday the whole site was booming with the noise of 500 V Twins ready for the parade of Shaftsbury, led by the town mayor in one of the many Guzzi outfits. The whole town appeared to have turned out to cheer on the parade andthe biggest grins were from the old peoples home, who apparently had put in a request that the parade should go round twice!- Luckily it didn't as the the Spondons little Pantah clutch had cooked!

Obviously the game plan for the rest of the day and night followed on from the night before, and included a Turkish Restaurant (Keebabs anyone?)
Sunday was organized superbly with 4 seperate runs to choose from to various tourist spots in the area although for the Desmo team it was back home to pick up the young master from his grand parents. (Next year we hope to be back on an outfit so will be able to stay the whole weekend)
Many people stayed till the Monday and quite a few of the outfit family types made a minni holiday out of the event- This really is a rally for EVERYBODY.
Barbara enjoys the company of some typical V Twinists. From left to right they are a member of the Worzels (Lance) a fat 3 armed man with only two fingers on each hand (Toby) and a deserter from the Israeli army (Steve)
